For those of us who love animals, we many times share a special bond with fellow animal lovers that is only understood by those who are like-minded. For those of us who love animals, we are a presence united for the common good of those that are at our mercy. We are many times gentle but staunchly protective souls. We are the type that put the needs of others above our own. Shirley Smith was one such person who happened to love cats! Although we didn't know Shirley personally, some of our board members have been fortunate enough to know her close family members. Due to these relationships, we have gotten to know at least a small piece of Shirley by witnessing the values that she has instilled in the younger generations who continue to follow behind her. Based upon the human gems that she raised, we can say with confidence that her gentleness and kindness live on through her family as they continue their lives being a force for good in the world even when "the going gets rough." In honor of Shirley Smith's love for cats, her family has chosen Hobo's Home as their charity of choice to make memorial contributions to in her honor. We are honored to be honored in this way by such a sweet, supportive, and selfless family.
