Obituary of Judith Mainus
Judith "Judie" Mainus, age 77, of Elkland, PA died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Corning Hospital, Corning, NY. She was born on June 27, 1946, in Mercer, PA, a daughter of Walter W. and Isobel (Moors) Anderson. Judie was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Rex Mainus. She was the art teacher at Northern Tioga School District, having taught at RB Walter Elementary and Millerton Elementary schools. She served on the board of directors for Elkland Area Library and was the secretary of the board of directors for Coates Heritage Museum.
Judie is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wayne Anderson of Wilmington, PA, Howard (Harriet) Anderson of Mercer, PA; a sister, and brother-in-law Janet (Stephen) Skibo of Hermitage, PA; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Morgan of Elkland, PA; nieces and nephews, Fred "Wynn" Morgan, Kathryn Whitcomb, Craig Skibo, Brian Skibo, Walter Anderson, and Keith Anderson; several dear friends, Pauline and Paul Hulme of Cheshire, England, Dan MacGregor of New Hudson, MI, Kathy and Marwin Cummings, of Tioga, PA, Lucy and Al Losey of Lawrenceville, and Linda Davenport and her beloved dog, Violet.
Judie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and dogs, Bi-anca, Skye, Dancer, Sage, Kaia.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Parkhurst Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkland, PA on Saturday, June 15th at 1 PM with Rev. Harry J. Colegrove officiating. The burial will take place in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, PA. Services are under the direction of Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S.
