Carol and I were friends before she started school. We must have met through church, although I do not remember when. I do remember spending the weekend with her when my mother was away and getting to play with her awesome kitchen in her bedroom. Lola curled her hair before we got to ride to school on the bus with her father, Howard. Carol was not very appreciative of all the time her mother spent detangling and twisting her hair in to ringlets. I also remember one birthday party, I think Debbie Foster, Debbie Colegrove, Luanne Cumberledge, Patty Cuneo and I were there, possibly others, but what made it so memorable was Aunt Ellen had made clothes for her Barbie doll. I was so envious as she unwrapped package after package of beautiful things.
