Obituary of Karl Eric Kaffine
Karl Eric Kaffine, died April 15, 2008 after a long and tedious battle with brain cancer. Karl was born in Reading, PA on December 3, 1956 and is a graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem, PA; Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA; and Northampton County College School of Nursing. He was an accomplished nurse, holding positions in Psychiatry, Cardiac Care, Intensive Care, and Emergency Care in Bethlehem, Easton, Reading, and Wellsboro, PA, as well as Rawlings, WY and Portland, ME. He was most recently employed as Tioga County Prison Nurse in Wellsboro, PA.
Karl is survived by his wife, Robin Kaffine, of Wellsboro; parents, Helmut and Frances Kaffine of Bethlehem, PA; sister, Karen Holm and husband, Robert of Boulder Creek, CA; stepchildren, Jeremy Goldthwaite of Toledo, OH and Jennifer Miller of Perrysburg, OH; and his devoted canine companion, Kaylar.
Karl was an aficionado of the outdoor, enjoyed hiking and backpacking extensively, including most of the Appalachian Trail, Bicycling, Kayaking, and Canoeing. He was skilled in forestry and carpentry and enjoyed working on his Wellsboro homestead. He and Robin celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in February.
Karl will be fondly remembered by family and his nationwide network of friends from Maine to California. He was a member of the Independent Bible Church in Wellsboro. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Independent Bible Church, 45 East Avenue, Wellsboro, PA 16901. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karl Kaffine and Terry Healy RN Program Scholarship Fund, Northampton Community College, 3835 Green Pond Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020. The Jacquelyn A.
