Obituary of Bruce G. Furman
Bruce G. Furman, age 80, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Bradford County Manor. He was born on March 13, 1941 in Elmira, NY, to his predeceased parents R. Gilbert and Kathryn (Brown) Furman of Roseville, PA. Bruce graduated from Mansfield High School Class of 1959. He graduated with a BS at Mansfield University and later to Elmira College completing the Emergency Medical Program.
He taught chemistry and science at Corning Free Academy Corning, NY. Was an EMS for Corning Ambulance Service for a season as well. Eventually Bruce moved to Fond du lac, WI where he taught Advanced Cardiology Care at Moraine Park Technical College, both on and off campus in the recertification of policemen and firemen in advanced cardio care. Bruce was an excellent teacher and held high expectations for his students. He was very well respected in his field of work and received citations for his excellence. In his off time he enjoyed competition weight lifting and spending time with his friends.
After teaching 25 plus years specializing in Advanced Cardio Care, retirement brought Bruce back to Roseville. He enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, and time with his dog Lizzy along with his five nephews. Bruce will always be remembered as a very gifted and talented person who had much to offer.
Bruce is survived by his brother, Edward (Annette) Furman of Crystal River, FL; identical twin sisters, Judy (David – predeceased) Ryland of Hermitage, PA, and Janet (Larry) Wenck of Big Flats, NY; and five nephews: Darren Ryland former Navy of Alpine, CA, Russ Ryland former Marines of Hermitage, PA, Marine Corp Gunnery SGT Gregory Wenck of Kailua, HI, Robert Carey Coast Guard Reserves of Ocala, FL, and Michael Carey of Ocala, FL. The family would like to give special note and thanks to Laurie Kasper for her longtime friendship and care to Bruce.
In honoring Bruce's wishes, there will be no services. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family.
