My friend, my father . . .
A father is the one friend upon whom we can always rely, in the hour of need, when all else fails, we remember him upon whose knees we sat when children, and who soothed our sorrows. And even though he may be unable to assist us, his mere presence serves to comfort and strengthen us.

I was saddened to learn of Floyd’s passing from kind friends in Nauvoo today. I became acquainted with Floyd when he worked at the Witt Home. It seemed like he could fix or do anything and on top of that he was just a pleasant person to have around. After the passing of my husband David, Floyd became invaluable in helping maintain the Witt property. Additionally he became a good friend, and someone I could always count on. An especially fond memory I have is when he adopted a Canada goose (that got lost or injured) and ended up on his pond. It was always fun to go visit Floyd and his pet goose.
