Grandpa,
You know that I love you so very much, and I am going to miss you just as much. I wanted to read something at your funeral but I know I wouldn't be able to read it. I am having a really hard time but I dont want you to feel bad, I understand and I know you are in a better place. You loved writing emails to me and I wish I spent more time to write you back with as much enthusiasm. Your letters got me through hard times like when I was homesick or hating basic training. I have a feeling I'll continue to write to you for quite a while and you can read it from heaven. When I was little we would spend so much time together. I would help you pick vegetables you grew in your garden and sometimes we ate green peppers right from the plant. We would bundle up and play in the snow. We would camp in the back yard and you would always be willing to push me on the swing. We would fly kites, and you taught me how to ride a bike. You were so impressed that you bought me a new bike a we biked together on the bike trail downtown. Sometimes we would wrap up in a blanket and sit on the swing outside and look up at the moon, the one you put up there for me. Whenever I look at the moon I think about you and the time we spent together. We have so many wonderful memories, we had such deep conversations, and we had a love so special! You have no idea how much I will miss you and I am so sad I could never make you a great grandpa because I know you would have been the best. But I have comfort in knowing you will see them from heaven and I will tell them how wonderful you were. I dont know what else to say other than, thank you. Thank you for blessing me with your time and your love for 23 wonderful years. I love you.
