Obituary of Grace E. Hughes
Grace E. Hughes, age 85, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 while in residence at the Green Home. Grace was born on September 26, 1927 in Orviston, PA, the daughter of Josiah and Beatrice (Walker) Long. Grace was married to Howard Hughes who preceded her in death on November 4, 2011. Prior to retirement, Grace was employed as a cook or cook's assistant at the County Farm, the Seneca Diner, Cuda's Deli, the Calico Restaurant and the Laurel Caf?. Grace also served several years as the Judge of Elections for Delmar Township. Grace and Howard devoted their retirement years to their family and enjoyed many weekends with their friends in the PA Grand Canyon Camper Club.
In addition to her husband, Grace was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and William Wellen. Grace is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Wellen, Howard and Nancy Hughes, Barry and Anne Hughes, Chris and Maureen Hughes, all of Wellsboro, PA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Mark Sternglanz of TX, Glenda and Dan Klinge of MO; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service for both Grace and Howard will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. All friends and family are invited to attend.
