Obituary of Gerald D. Smith

Gerald D. "Jerry" Smith, Jr., age 77, of Millerton, PA, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Gerald was born October 3, 1935 in Elmira, NY, a son of Gerald D. Sr. and Janet (Deming) Smith. He was the husband of Marleea (Everett) Smith celebrating 54 years of marriage on February 20, 2013. Gerald was a retired pattern maker for Kennedy Valve in Elmira, NY, worked at Rimco Plastics in Horseheads, NY, and was a US Army veteran. He was an artificial inseminator for NEPA, enjoyed golfing and hunting. Gerald is survived by his wife, Marleea; two sons, Guy Smith (Tiffaney Brochu) of Great Falls, MT, Gus Smith of Millerton, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Lyle Vargeson of Millerton, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Richard Smith of Daggett, PA; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; cousin, Delbert Smith; special friend, Norm Geiser. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Westlake Tyler. In keeping with Gerald's wishes, there will be no services. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
