Obituary of Dessie Mae McClure
Dessie Mae McClure, age 90, of Troy, PA, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at her daughter's residence. Born on September 24, 1922 in Collins, GA, she was the daughter of Randolph and Anne (Cowart) Harvey. Dessie was predeceased by her husband, Wayne McClure in 2000.
Prior to her retirement, Dessie was employed as a Nurse with Troy Community Hospital. during World War II; she served as an aircraft mechanic at Hunter Airforce Base. Dessie was a member of the Troy Presbyterian Church where she participated in the church choir. She was also an active member of the Troy Hospital Auxiliary and several Bowling leagues. Dessie enjoyed flowers, gardening, skiing, tennis and pets.
Dessie is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra and Blaine Scott of Troy, PA, Andie Simpson (Tim Teribury) of Troy, PA; a step-daughter, Anne Lee (Don) Snyder of Altamont, NY; 8 grandchildren, Michele (Scott Cummings) Robbins, Kristie Simpson, Stacie Simpson, Laurel (John) Philibin, Sean (Michelle) Snyder, Curtis (Stacy) Snyder, Gretchen (Geo) Haines, Lydia (Michael) Stringer; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Wayne, Dessie was also predeceased by a son, Randy Brown in 2008; three brothers, Bill, Calvin, Dan and two sisters, Jean Marshlick and Annielou Easton.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of sharing on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the parlor of the Troy Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Troy, PA. A prayer service will be held immediately following the time of sharing at 6:00 PM at the church with Rev. Bill Bardo officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Dessie's name to Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA, 18848. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
