Obituary of Richard G. Barthel
Richard G. Barthel, age 82, of Middlebury Center, PA, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his residence. Born on June 26, 1930 in Phoenixville, PA, he was the son of Charles and Ruth (Nafsinger) Barthel. Richard and his wife, Helen (Sheha) Barthel celebrated 56 years of marriage on November 3, 2012. Prior to his retirement, Richard was employed at Eastern Foundry in Boyertown and also Waste Management of Pottstown. He was a life member of the Pottstown American Legion and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Pottstown. Richard was a Korean War veteran having served with the US Marines Corps.
Richard is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Kay and Irvin Fox of Birdsboro, PA; a sister, Hazel Rodriquez of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren; Sara Weikel and her fianc James Schwartz, Jennifer Fry, Bradley Fox and his wife, Jean Fox, Alicia Fox, Drew Fox; five great grandchildren, Abbey Schwartz, Dylan Schwartz, Aubrey Johnson, Braedyn Johnson and Khloe Fry. Richard was predeceased by a daughter, Vickie Weikel on June 23, 1997, five brothers and six sisters.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours at the funeral chapel at 3:00 PM with Rev. Eugene Charsky officiating.
