Obituary of Thomas Cole Smith

Thomas Cole Smith, age 78, of Millerton, PA, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Born on April 10, 1934 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of Burton O. and Josephine (Cole) Smith. Thomas and his wife, Betty H. (Henck) Smith, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on June 4, 2012. He graduated from Unionville High School in 1952, and attended Susquehanna University. Prior to his retirement, Thomas was self employed as a florist. He was a member of the Millerton Wesleyan Church and the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company in Unionville, PA. In addition to his wife, Betty, Thomas is survived by one son and a daughter-in-law, James and Susan Smith of Erin, NY; three daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley Smith of West Chester, PA, Susan Gillespie of West Chester, PA, Peggy and Andrew White of Kennett Square, PA; two sisters, Barbara Vennerbeck of North Scituate, RI, Betty Ilsemann of Kennett Square, PA; seven grandchildren, Sara White, Amy Smith, Liza Gillespie, Alex Smith, Jennifer Watts, Jeremy Watts, Evan Watts and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Thomas was predeceased by a brother, Richard G. Smith. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours for Thomas on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Millerton Wesleyan Church, 5174 Main St., Millerton, PA. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours at the church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Laurie Greenlaw officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
