Mary J. Pond, age 52, of Mansfield, PA, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at her home. Mary was born on March 22, 1954 in Renovo, PA, a daughter of Leonard Josh and Mina (Confer) Burkhouse. She attended St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield, PA. Marys true passion was spending time with her only grandchild, Nicolas. Mary was in the process of fulfilling a life long dream of becoming a nurse by attending the Pennsylvania College of Technology School of Nursing in Wellsboro, PA.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Wendy (Scott Mesuch) Roe of Hershey, PA; two sons, Paul Fowler and Joshua Pond of Nanticoke, PA; a grandson, Nicolas Roe of Hershey, PA; her companion, Donald L. Hall of Mansfield, PA; her twin sister, Nancy Galford of Clermont, FL, a brother and sister-in-law, Marty and Maria Haupt of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; a sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Joe Blinzler; step-daughter, Rhonda (Donnie) Farrell of Painted Post, NY; stepson, Bruce (Keough) Hallock of Horseheads, NY. step-grandchildren, Geoffrey (Crystal) Layton, Samanta Layton, Bo Farrell, Thomas Overhiser, and Kaycie Hallock. Her parents, and a brother, Karl Burkhouse, preceded her in death.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 7 to 9 PM and on Monday, January 15, 2007 from noon until 1 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will immediately follow the viewing on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 1 PM at the funeral home with her pastor the Rev. Rowena Gibbons officiating. Burial will be in the Portage Twp.
