Obituary of Dorothy M. Wood

Dorothy M. Wood, age 91, of Ithaca, NY, formerly of Wellsboro, PA, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Cayuga Ridge Health and Residential Community in Ithaca, NY. Dorothy was born July 24, 1921 in Canton, PA, a daughter of Justin and Leah (Jenkins) Sadler. She was the wife of the late Gerald E. Wood who died in 2008. Dorothy was retired from Sears in Wellsboro as a sales associate. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellsboro; loved kids, crafts, camping and playing bingo. Dorothy is survived by 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Ruth Wood of Pinon Hills, CA, Barry and Pam Wood of Port Crane, NY, Danny and Donna Wood of Raleigh, NC, Alan and Melinda Wood of Willseyville, NY, Dennis and Beth Wood of Mansfield, PA; a sister, Connie Wood of Festus, MO; a brother, Don (Alberta) Sadler of Lima OH; a sister, Donna Koehler of Horseheads, NY; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Whispel; 3 grandchildren, Kim Wood, Justin Soboleski and Mark Wood. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Debbie Button officiating. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Mansfield, PA.
