Obituary of Dale Thomas Swan
Dale T Swan, Jr., known to friends and family as D.J., age 17, of Middlebury Center, PA died on Thursday August 9, 2012 in Middlebury Center, PA due to injuries from an automobile accident. Born on December 10, 1994 in Lansdale, PA he was the son of Dale T. and Lynda (Swartley) Swan of Middlebury Center, PA.
Dale DJ was an honor student at Williamson High School in Tioga, PA and currently dually enrolled at Corning Community College ACE program. He would have been entering his Senior year this fall. Throughout his school years DJ attended Trinity Lutheran School in Wellsboro, PA, Elkland High School and CV High School in Westfield, PA. DJ had a love for Engineering, Math and Science and was on the Williamson HS robotics team serving as lead engineer in the Alfred college competition. In his free time, DJ loved to hunt and could always be found in the woods during deer season. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale, PA. and a very active member of Tioga County 4H serving as past county council member, president of his 4H club Hare Raisers, 4H Camp Counselor, assisted teaching a robotics class for 4H, and completed his senior project assisting the Tioga County Extension office interns with the recent summer day camps this year. In addition to his involvement in the county, DJ also was a youth district director for the HLRSC and avid breeder of the Holland Lop Rabbits, earning himself several top placings on a national level. Dale also enjoyed sports, participating in basketball, track and field, and cross country at Williamson High School. He received an award for outstanding academic achievement and would have participated in FBLA and County Council this fall. His quiet nature, beautiful smile, and lending hands will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, Dale, Sr. and Lynda Swan, he is survived by a sister, Jessica Swan of Middlebury Center, PA; his maternal grandfather, Donald Swartley of Colmar, PA; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Darlene Swan of Princeton, MN; aunts, uncles, cousins and a brother, Benjamin William Swan who passed away on Monday August 13, 2012. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Carol Swartley on January 3, 2007.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S Main St., Mansfield, PA and Monday, August 20, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Avenue and Luther Lane, Wellsboro, PA. Funeral services will be held at Noon at the church with Rev. Peter A. DeVantier officiating.
