Obituary of Virginia DeGeus

Virginia F. (Watts) DeGeus age 89, of Jobs Corners, PA passed away July 10, 2012. Virginia was born May 24, 1923 in Lycoming County PA. Daughter of the late Joseph Derr and Marion Winner Watts, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Arthur N. DeGeus, on March 12, 2010. Her mother and father-in-law, George and Gladys DeGeus, sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Ralph Hornberger, sisters-in-law, Ruth Dunham, Ada DeGeus, brother-in-law, Garrett DeGeus, and nephew, Kenny Dunham, also predeceased her. She is survived by her children: Eugene (Liliana), Pearland, TX; Dale; Kay (David) Bartlett; Donna (Terry) Gooshaw, Millerton, PA; Duane (Esther), Longwood, FL; Ginger (Shawn) Gregory, Pine City, NY; 17 Grandchildren: Gene Robert, John, Brett, Sarita, Nathan, Kristie, Ryan, Michael, Megan, Jennifer, Lauren, Ashley, Joshua, Sara, Becky, Andy, Jeremy; and 19 Great Grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Richard DeGeus and Herbert Dunham, several cousins and 8 nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of the Daggett United Methodist Church, where she played piano, organ, participated in choir, and taught Sunday school. The sound of piano music often filled her home as well. Serving as a homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed raising her family and took charge of instilling Godly values in her children and demonstrating them before all those she came in contact with. For many years, she and Art enjoyed gardening, traveling to visit family and her baking skills were enjoyed by those that surrounded her. She was a member of The Big Elm Fire Departments Womens Auxiliary, where for many years she assisted with benefit chicken barbeques and fundraising birthday calendars. As a young adult, she worked at the Remington Rand in Elmira, NY. She gave volunteer time in the local Board of Elections and later also enjoyed doing child care work for family and friends. A celebration of Virginias life will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at The Daggett United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M.
