Obituary of Mary Dancause
Mary Dancause, age 76, of Middlebury Center, PA, died on Friday, May 11, 2012 in Broad Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wellsboro, PA. Born on May 1, 1936 in Shipley, Yorkshire, England, she was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Hannah (Stone) Holmes. Mary came to the United States from England in 1963 where she lived and worked on Long Island. A year later, she moved to New York City where she worked for Morgan Guarantee Trust Company on Wall Street. She met and married Richard Dancause and moved to New Jersey. In 1975, Richard and Mary moved to Middlebury Center, PA. Mary became a homemaker for several years. She then decided to return to work outside her home and was employed at the Green Free Library in Wellsboro, PA for four years. After Richard passed away on December 25, 2004, Mary lived alone with her two cats, Samantha and Gerika and enjoyed her little house in the woods.
Mary was a member of the Christian Science Church in Boston, Mass. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Philip Dancause of Lowell, Mass. In addition to her husband, Richard, she was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Shackton.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Mary on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main Street, Mansfield, PA with Rev. John J. Chmil officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marys name to the Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries, P.O.
