Obituary of Alice L. Brooks
Alice L. Brooks, age 79, of Tioga, PA, died Monday, April 16, 2012 in Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Alice was born November 16, 1932 in N. Tonawanda, NY, a daughter of Clarence and Frances (Carney) Merrifield. She was the wife of the late James Brooks who passed away in July of 2002. Alice worked as a waitress, cook, nurses aide, milk and candy packer before her retirement. She enjoyed reading, sewing and crafts.
Alice is survived by a son, Michael (Ruth Delmater) Brooks of Elmira, NY; five daughters and and sons-in-law, Christine (Bud) Ray of Lawrenceville, PA, Rebecca and Bill Collum of Lawrenceville, PA, Cynthia and Michael Sykora of Tioga, PA, Melissa and Wayne Foulkes of Whakatane, New Zealand, Shannon Cutler and Leigh of Susanville, CA; brother, Robert James (Janice) Merrifield of Liberty, SC; sister, Peggy (Richard) Babcock of Massena, NY; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Alice is also survived by her loving and best friend, Larry Hardy of Yokumtown, PA. She was predeceased by her husband, James, two sons, James LeRoy Brooks, Jr. in 1955 and Kevin Brooks in 1962, a daughter, Laura Brook-Vicioso in 2011, two brothers, Jack and Clarence Merrifield, a grandson, Jared Nichols, and a great grandson, Dayvin Gilbert.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Millerton Wesleyan Church, Rte. 328, Millerton, PA with Rev. Laurie Greenlaw and Alices grandson, Bill F. Collum, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, N. Tonawanda, NY. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S.
