Obituary of John S. Turner
John S. Turner, age 78, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his home.
Born on May 8, 1933 in Stoneham, MA, he was the son of George and Jane (Deveau) Turner.
John was a career US Air Force veteran serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Following his military service, he was employed for 25 years with the US Post Office in Wellsboro and was the owner and operator of Middlebury Electronics, repairing all electronics for Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital for 12 years. John was a member of the Wellsboro VFW, the American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and the Veterans Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing darts.
John is survived by a son, Scott Turner, of Wellsboro, PA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and David Robinson of Wellsboro, PA, Paulette and Earl James of New Mexico; one sister, Joyce Turner of Florida; six grandchildren; Rachel (Rob Cleveland) Robinson, Rebeccah (Bill) Richner, Nathaniel (Whitney) Robinson, Levi Turner, Lillian Crosby, Earl Crosby and three great grandchildren; Natalie Cleveland, Wyatt and Nolan Richner. He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Donald Turner.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for John on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 637 S. Main Street, Mansfield, PA. Military honors will be presented by the Tioga County Honor Guard Association. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Johns name to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E.
