Richard A. Dick Ness Sr., age 65, of Mt. Wolf, PA, died on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dick was the husband of Carolyn Carol (Stambaugh) Ness for 46 years. He was born on November 5, 1941 in Dover, PA a son of Norman and Verna (Weir) Ness. Dick retired from Osram Sylvania in York, PA, in 1998. Following his retirement he was employed by Yellow Freight in Lancaster, PA, Gohn and Stambaugh Plumbing and Heating in York, PA, Nessco Inc. in Mt. Wolf, PA. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, pets, hunting, fishing and weekend visits to the mountains at a family owned hunting camp. Dick was a member of the Zeredatha 451 Masonic Lodge, the Tall Cedars in Lebanon, PA, and the Zembo Shrine.
Dick is survived by his wife Carolyn, three sons and daughters-in-law; Richard Allen and Krista Ness of York, PA, Edward Norman Eddie and Michelle Ness of Anchorage, AL, Brian Gregory and Beth Ness of Mt. Wolf, PA, six grandchildren; Edward, Matthew, Kara, Zachary, Danielle and Brian Ness, and one great grandson Brandon Ness. Dick was preceded in death by two brothers; Raymond and Norman Ness, two sisters; Margaret Stouch, and Pauline Desenberg.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 and Wednesday December 27, 2006 from 9 to 10 AM at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 East Market St. York, PA. The funeral service will immediately follow the viewing on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Etzweiler Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Trout officiating. Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Dicks name to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
