Obituary of Edson R. Watkins

Edson R. Watkins, age 95, of Covington, PA, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Broad Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wellsboro, PA. Edson was born January 30, 1917 in Covington, PA a son of Ed and Myra E. (Wilcox) Watkins. He had been employed by Corning, Inc. for over 40 years. Edson attended Covington Church of Christ, was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Wellsboro, and was on a bowling league. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Etta Manikowski of Liberty, PA, and Judith Ann Nowak of Mansfield, PA; 5 grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Manikowski, Greta (Dan Shanaway) Manikowski, Alan (Lisa) Padleski, Chris (Jennifer) Nowak, Theresa (Jacob) Carter; 9 great grandchildren, David, Rachel, Nathan and Jason Manikowski, ZuZu Shanaway, Annabelle and Waylon Padleski, Isabel and Danny Nowak. Edson was predeceased by his wife, Agnes L. (Haddow) Watkins, brothers and sisters. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Ira Hindman officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Tioga County Honor Guard.
