Obituary of Gerald E. Estep
Gerald E. Estep, age 84, of Troy, PA, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at his home. Gerald was born December 6, 1927 in Windber, PA, a son of Francis and Maude (VanNoy) Estep. He celebrated 64 years of marriage to Janice H. Estep on September 27th, 2011. Gerald was a machinist at Troy Engine, Remington Rand in Elmira, NY, Glider City Tool Co., A & P Tea Co. in Horseheads, NY and retired from GTE, Towanda, PA in 1990. He was a lifelong member of the Sylvania Presbyterian Church, having served as elder and trustee several times and volunteered many hours of labor on the church building. Gerald was a charter member of the Sylvania Lions Club with perfect attendance for over 50 years, serving as president and zone chairman. He also received the highest award in lionism the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Janice; three sons and daughters-in-law, James B. and Robin Estep of Troy, PA, Jeffrey E. and Jeannie Estep of Granville, PA, Joseph F. and Sherry Estep of Troy, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Anne and James Segar of Watkins Glen, NY; a sister, Jeannine Beardslee of Green Brier, TN; a sister-in-law, Anne Deeny of Springfield, TN; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Eldon Estep.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A Memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Bill Bardo officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA.
