Obituary of Ina C. Neal
Ina Neal, age 92, of Mansfield, PA, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center, Wellsboro, PA. Ina was born August 21, 1919 in Rutland Twp., a daughter of Charles H. and Ruby (Hoag) Cook. She was married for 68 years to Darwin L. Shiner Neal who passed away January 25, 2008. She was librarian at Mansfield Junior-Senior High School from 1971, when she graduated with honors from Mansfield State College, until she retired in 1984. She had graduated from Mansfield High School, class of 1937. Ina had been a member of the Mansfield First Presbyterian Church since 1948, where she variously served as an Elder, Clerk of the Session, was a member and officer of the Presbyterian Womens Circle, and member of the Council of the Northumberland Presbytery. Ina was also a 50+ year member and past Worthy Matron of the Twilight (Mary Wells) Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; 50+ year member and past Regent of the Wellsboro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and member of the American Library Association, Pennsylvania State Library Association, Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, Pennsylvania State Association of Retirees, Mansfield Free Public Library Board, and Tioga County Historical Society.
Ina is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Eleanor Neal of Mansfield; three daughters and a son-in-law, Darwina Neal of Washington, DC, Marynel Somogy of Elmira, NY, Dawn and Larry Shellenberger of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren, Stephen (Michele) Somogy of Everett, WA, Jennifer (Paul) Somogy Salvaggio of Wayne, PA, Matthew (Johna) Neal, Ryan (Alanda) Neal, both of Mansfield, PA; six great grandchildren, Stephen, Matilda, and Lucas Somogy, Macy, Jaylynn and Jayc Neal; two step-grandchildren, Penny Starks and Paul (Joanna) Evans, both of Mansfield, PA; six step-great grandchildren, Serena Starks, Ashley, Tyler, Kasey, Austyn and Jacob Evans; one great great grandson, Clayton; and a brother, Carlyle Cook of Home, PA. Ina was predeceased by her husband, Darwin; and two sisters, Nelda Holton and Fern Cook.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon with funeral services to follow at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA.
