Obituary of Winona C. Messner
Winona C. Messner, age 94, of Covington, PA, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at The Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. She was born June 26, 1920 in Covington, PA a daughter of Charles H. and Anna (Patterson) Fessler. Winona was the widow of DeWitt William "Bill" Messner, Jr. who passed away December 20, 2006. She was the oldest member of the Covington United Methodist Church. Winona enjoyed volunteer work and was on the board of elections for over 60 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, active in the former Covington Community Center, worked at local blood drives, and in her younger days she was an avid bowler.
Winona is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Donna Messner of Bloomfield, NY, William and Helene Messner of Arkport, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Jane Fessler of Covington, PA; a sister, Arlene Kuster of Blossburg, PA; 4 grandchildren, Melissa (Lou) Tosto, William J. Messner, Martin (Deborah) Messner, Derek (Victoria) Messner; 6 great granddaughters. She was predeceased by her husband, DeWitt, sisters, Ardis Baity and Miriam Marvin; brothers, Harry and Francis Fessler.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at the Covington United Methodist Church, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Michelle Somerville officiating.
