Obituary of Lillian M. Chamberlain
Lillian M. Butcher Esaias Chamberlain, 93, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at her home in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
Lillian was born February 14, 1918 in Millerton PA, to parents Harry and Ruby Butcher. She attended Millerton High School graduating in 1936. In 1940, Lil would marry Richard (Dick) Esaias. In 1949 they moved to a farm in Columbia Crossroads, PA. It was there she raised her four children. In 1965, they moved to Blossburg, where Lil worked as a clerk at the 5 & 10 store and later as an assistant manager of Widmanns. In 1980, she retired to DeLand Florida with husband Laverne (Pete) Chamberlain where she lived until moving back to PA in April, 2011.
As one of 12 children, Lillian developed a love and dedication to her family. The ultimate matriarch, she inspired this same sense of family devotion in everyone around her. To her, any free time was family time. Lil loved to play cards, bingo, and go camping while taking any and all opportunities to involve even the youngest family member. Many of us learned how to play and win thanks to Lil. Her strong competitive nature taught us the importance of giving our best, and inspired us to set out and accomplish even our loftiest goals.
