Obituary of Gerda Schoen

Gerda B. (Braun) Schoen, age 88, of Troy, PA, died on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. Gerda was born on July 16, 1922 in Germany, the daughter of Frieda (Schaffner) Braun. She and husband, Heinz P. Schoen, would have celebrated 69 years of marriage on June 5, 2011. Prior to her retirement, Gerda was employed as a hairdresser and also worked for AT&T. In addition to her husband, Heinz, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and John Koch of Troy, PA; one sister, Linda Grube of Sommerville, NJ; one brother-in-law, Kurt Schoen of Livingston, NJ; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Derek) Parks, Adam Koch; five great grandchildren: Alyssa Parks, Garrett Parks, Patience Guilds, Wilder Koch, Jasper Koch and many nieces and nephews. Gerda was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lisa Schoen, her mother, brother and sister-in-laws. A memorial service will be held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in NJ at a later date.
