Obituary of John R. Barnes
John Barnes, 89, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Wellsboro, PA. John was born January 31, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA. He received his undergraduate and Ph.D from Penn State University. He served in WWII as a navigator in the 95th Bombardment Group/3rd Air Division/Army Air Corp in the European Theater. He retired from DuPont Haskell Laboratory as the Director of Pathology in 1982. He enjoyed reading, gardening and stamp collecting.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sarah; his son, Whiteley; and his son-in-law, Steven Lewis. He is survived by his children, James (Linda) of Seattle, Washington; his daughter, Elizabeth of Wilmington, DE, Charles (Jennifer) of Wellsboro, PA, and his grandsons, Kevin and Chase Barnes.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, Delaware. The Jacquelyn A.
