Obituary of Joseph W. Rasmussen

Joseph Joe W. Rasmussen, age 72, of Mansfield, PA, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, Williamsport, PA. Joe was born on May 8, 1939 in Sayre, PA, the son of Gunnar and Mary (Knowlton) Rasmussen. He was married to Cindy A. Mitchell. Joe was the owner/operator of Rasmussen Nurseries in Mansfield, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy during peacetime and was a life member of the Mansfield VFW Post 6757. Joe also enjoyed lifetime memberships with the Hillside Rod and Gun Club in Blossburg, PA and Arnot Sportsmans Club. In addition to his wife, Cindy, Joe is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph G. and Rebecca Rasmussen of Mansfield, PA; a daughter, Gena Manning; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Betty Rasmussen of Corning, NY; one sister, Linda Montesi of Seattle, WA and four grandchildren, Liza, Drew and Liam Manning and Dannaka Rasmussen. Joe was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila Rasmussen in 1985. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Joes life at the Mansfield VFW, South Main Street, Mansfield, PA at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 16, 2011. At Joes request, a private funeral service will be held for the family at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA.
