Obituary of Charles Gilbert Wood

Charles Gilbert Wood, age 82, of Elkland, PA, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Bath, NY. Charles was born January 13, 1929 in Mansfield, PA a son of Earl and Gladys (Heater) Wood. He was the husband of Mary (Wills) Wood. Charles was a retired truck driver for Elmira Transit Authority. He was a member of the American Legion in Elkland, and a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII. Charles is survived by his wife, Mary; his mother, Gladys Wood of Mansfield, PA; a son, Charles Wood, Jr. of Milton, PA; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diane Wood of Tampa, FL, Peggy and Bob Jackson of Mainesburg, PA, Debbie and Harry Heilman of York, PA; 10 grandchildren, Laurie Smith, Wendy Clemons, Carrie Wood, Angela Bixby, Shannon Rodgers, Paige Wood, Timothy Merrick, Ben Rodgers, Ashley Rodgers and Danielle Wood; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Gordon Wood of Mansfield, PA; a sister, Anna May Hammond of Mansfield, PA. Charles was predeceased by his father; a son, Delos Wood in 1976; three brothers, Wilbur Wood, Dick Wood and Delos Wood. In keeping with Charles wishes, there will be no services. The Jacquelyn A.
