Obituary of John S. Brown
John S. Jack Brown, age 90, of Hornell, NY and formerly of Gibson, NY, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at McAuley Manor in Hornell, NY. Jack was born February 21, 1921 in Rutland Twp., PA a son of Fay and Carrie (Sweely) Brown. He was a self-employed farmer and had worked for and retired from American LaFrance. Jack was a member of the Moose in Corning, NY. He attended St. Anns Catholic Church in Hornell, NY, enjoyed bowling, and for 25 years his team bowled for the Fred Leinhus League in Corning, NY.
Jack is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Remedios Brown of Hawthorne, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and James Farrell of Hornell, NY; four grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Brown, Kevin Farrell, and Elizabeth Loveless; four great grandchildren, Brooke and Jack Farrell, Anna and Allie Loveless; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Gordon Wood of Mansfield, PA; a brother-in-law, Robert Erway of Elmira, NY. He was predeceased by his loving companion, Ruth Gerow, sisters, Donna Enderle and Kathryn Furman, brothers, Thomas Brown and Wilbur Brown.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Child Catholic Church, 245 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA with Rev. Jacek J. Bialkowski as celebrant. Burial will be in Roseville Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
