Obituary of Leon J. Rockwell
Leon J. Rockwell, Sr., age 71, of Tioga, PA, died on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at his home. Leon was born on June 8, 1939 in Blossburg, PA, the son of Nathan and Loetta (Newman) Rockwell. He and his wife, JoAnne (Mores) Rockwell celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on October 1, 2010.
Prior to his retirement, Leon was employed for 30 years with Kennedy Valve as a large valve assembler. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1147 of Wellsboro, PA, and served as an umpire for the baseball farm team. Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandchildren, gardening, travelling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, JoAnne, Leon is survived by two sons; John Rockwell of Tioga, PA, Leon Rocky Rockwell, Jr. of Corning, NY; one daughter, Tina King of Wellsboro, PA; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Roberta Space of Addison, NY, Virginia Jeffers of Addison, NY, Pearl and Carl Wright of Middlebury Center, PA; six grandchildren; Leon Rockwell, III, Karissa Rockwell, Brooke Rockwell, Dillan King, Brianna King, Kayla Copp; a step-brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Monalee Johnston, Jr. of Mainesburg, PA and one sister-in-law, Mary Rockwell of Cascade, MD and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased his parents and two brothers, Russell and James Rockwell.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at the funeral home at 3:00 PM with Pastor Kristi Webster officiating.
