Obituary of Bert Hamblin
Bert Hamblin, age 78, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, September 23, 2010 after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was born in Nelson, PA on March 5, 1932 to the late Paul and Margaret Hamblin. He is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 58 years; daughters, Koleen (Tim) Short of Lawrenceville, PA and Marilyn (Jerald) Wetherbee of Mansfield, PA; a son, Rick (Kim) of Mechanicsville, VA. He is also survived by grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Bartlett of Arnot, PA, Kori Warriner of Chattanooga, TN, Julie (Dave) Rudinski of Hope Mills, NC, Amanda (Jeremy) Keck of Mansfield, PA, Misti (Bryan) Bentley of Ocoee, TN, Rebekah (Jason) Vandergrift of Wellsboro, PA, Jeremy (Natosha) Wetherbee of Monroeton, PA, Dawn (Nate) Hilfiger of Lawrenceville, PA, Matthew Hamblin of Richmond, VA, and Campbell Haden of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
Bert was well known for his generous soul and his love of life. He was quick to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He loved to square dance and his train whistle will be remembered by many. He was a dedicated husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. and 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 8:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers.
