Obituary of George William Phelps
George William Phelps, Sr., age 68, of Nelson, PA, died on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at his home. George was born on November 26, 1941 in Blossburg, PA, the son of Frank Chester and Flossie Mae (Aldrich) Phelps. He was married to Rosemary K. (Smith) Phelps.
George retired as a logger in 1994 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting wood, gardening and tinkering on everything. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, Rosemary, George is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George William Bill and Corina Phelps, Jr., of Knoxville, PA, Kenneth Frank and Bridget Phelps, of Nelson, PA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ronda K. and Jeffrey Stage of Lawrenceville, PA, Kristi R. and Bradley Roupp of Tioga, PA; four brothers, Winston, John, Edward and James Phelps all of Nelson, PA; one sister, Beatrice Stratton of Nelson, PA; 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the Nelson Community Church, Nelson, PA. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours at the church at 6:00 PM with Pastor Mike Bernard officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jacquelyn A.
