Obituary of George Arthur Close

George Arthur Close, age 52, of Morris, PA, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA after a four month courageous battle with cancer. George was born in Arnot Ogden Hospital on January 4th, 1958. He graduated from Wellsboro High School in 1976. George served in the U.S. Army for eight years and was stationed in Germany for two tours. He was instrumental in development and testing of the Abrams Tank. He also served along the Berlin Wall. George was a carpenter by trade and also worked on road and bridge construction. George is survived by his mother, Mrs. John C. Close, Jr.; brother, John C. Close III of Penn Yan, NY; sisters, Connie Putnam of Troy, PA, and Jeanne Butler of Rome, PA; former wife, Susan Howe; companion of nine years, Bonnie Sitar; children, Staci Lynn Close, (son-in-law, Joseph Lynn Sherman), Ryan Paul Close (daughter-in-law, Brandi Lyn Owlett), Shane Michael Close (daughter-in-law, Tara Lynn Close); grandchildren, Kadance Xan Everett, Evan Michael Close; step grandchild, Hailie Marie Kerr; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
