Obituary of Eugene F. Walsh
Eugene Gene F. Walsh, age 75, of Mansfield, PA, died on Sunday, June 27, 2010 in Lewisburg, PA. Gene was born on October 8, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Eugene F. and Dorothy (Kopper) Sickenberger. He was married to Irene (Kolmegies) Walsh. Prior to moving to Mansfield, Gene was employed with the Philadelphia Gas Company. He relocated to the Mansfield area and opened Genes Dairy Treat in Mansfield in 1969 which he operated for 10 years. In1979, he opened the Mansfield McDonalds. In years to come, Gene opened additional McDonalds establishments in Wellsboro, Coudersport and Towanda, PA. Gene was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was an enthusiastic world traveler who visited all seven continents. Gene enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events. He loved to play cards, especially Pitch. Gene served with the US Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, Irene, Gene is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Sharon Walsh of Towanda, PA, Edward Walsh of West Reading, PA; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Aument of Selinsgrove, PA; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Betty Walsh of Elverson, PA; one sister, Donna Sickenberger of Harleysville, PA and seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Brittany, Ryan, Nathan, Carly, Emily and J.J. He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah A. (Walsh) DAngelo on December 1, 2000.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Kay Schwab officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Genes name to the Ronald McDonald House, 1027 East Genessee St., Syracuse, NY 13210-1808.
