Obituary of Luther M. Cummings
Luther M. Cummings, age 98, of Tioga, PA, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Bradford County Manor, Troy, PA. Luther was born June 19, 1911 in Tioga Twp., a son of Earl and Edith (Jones) Cummings. He was the husband of Mildred (Smith) Cummings for 67 years. Luther had been employed as a machinist at American LaFrance, and was a Tioga Township Supervisor. Luther and his wife owned and operated a farm for many years. He was a member of the former Tioga Grange. Luther enjoyed his family and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed family reunions and picnics at Eldridge Park.
Luther is survived by his wife, Mildred of Tioga; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Sterling of Dauphin, PA, and Beverly and David Wilkins of Lawrenceville, PA; five grandchildren, Sheryl Mondock, Nancy Townsend, Richard Wilkins, Ashley Sterling, and Andrew Sterling; five great grandchildren, Melinda Mondock, Daniel Mondock, Jenna Townsend, Laura Townsend, and Rachel Wilkins; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Cecil and Martha Cummings of FL, Duane Cummings of Wellsboro, PA; a sister, Theodora Barnes of Mansfield, PA. Luther was predeceased by four brothers, Gordon, Jesse, Maynard and Reed.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow the viewing at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Allen Hulslander and the Rev. William R. Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Nelson Cemetery.
