Obituary of Barbara R. Morse
Barbara Rae Morse, 73, passed away on February 24, 2010 after a nine year courageous battle with cancer. She died at the residence of her daughter in Troy, Pa. surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 1, 1936 in Troy, Pa, was the eldest daughter to Raymond Huck and Edith (Williams) Morris. She was born at home on Canton St. Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Troy High School.
She was married to Edward Harrison Morse on June 27, 1954. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together. Barbara helped her husband on their farm just outside of Troy. They had dairy cows and also a large apple orchard that drew many people from around the northern Tier. During the early years along with helping her husband she also worked at the Troy Sale barn. In her later years she worked for ten years as a waitress at the Edgewoods Restaurant in Troy. Barbs love for life was for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Barbs favorite times were spent going to her grandchildrens sporting events, traveling to sunny destinations, living it up in the casinos and reading a good novel. She shared a special love for her cat Morris and dog Gracie.
In addition to her husband, Ed, she is survived by her three children: son, James Morse; his wife, (Pam) and three kids, Alex, Maddie and Cecilia, of Troy; daughter, Theresa Manning, her husband (Rodney) and children, Christopher and wife, Amanda, Allyson and Meghan of Troy; daughter, Carolee Morse from Sherburne, NY; her sister-in-law, Barbara Morris, Troy, Pa; nephew, Mike Searfoss with his wife, Susan and two children; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Marilyn Calkins of Troy; sister-in-law, Joyce Gross of Elmira, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Carolyn Morse of Horseheads, NY. She had several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Vickie Sax and Jean Havens. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold, and sister, Carol, and cousin, Sandy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service which will be held at the the First Baptist Church of Troy, Saturday, February 27th at 2 pm. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Memorial Hospital Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848, and also the Troy Baptist Church.
