Obituary of Charles Stanley Keller
Charles Stanley Keller, age 95, a resident of The Laurels in Wellsboro passed peacefully of natural causes on Monday, November 15, 2010. Before moving to Wellsboro in 2005, he was a resident of Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, PA. Stan, as his friends knew him, was born April 9, 1915, in Philadelphia, the son of Charles Calvin Keller and Linnie (Moyer) Keller. He graduated in 1938 from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. Stan was married to the late Harriet Burt Keller who passed in 2005 while the couple was living in Lansdale. He was also preceded in death by a younger sister, Doris Rife of Chambersburg, PA.
Stan and his wife, Harriet, met while they were employees of General Electric Corporation in Philadelphia. He was co-founder in 1947, and chief operating officer for most of his career, of Plastica (now Jet Plastica) in Hatfield, PA, which designed and manufactured the first plastic eating utensils. He and his wife were active in community theatre in the Lansdale area and the Thomas Paine Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Collegeville, PA. Activities that Stan pursued with passion ranged from art and architectural design to tennis, which he played well into his eighties.
Stan is survived by two sons. The eldest, Peter A. Keller, serves as Provost of Mansfield University and is married to Rhonda S. Keller. The youngest, C. Stephen Keller, is a principal of Woodhouse and Murus corporations of Mansfield and resides in Boulder, CO. Grandchildren include Dr. David P. Keller, an oceanographer who resides in Kiel, Germany; Dr. Kirsten Keller Titelman, a researcher with Rand Corporation, who resides with her husband in Santa Monica, CA; and Hali Keller who resides with her parents in Boulder, CO. A great grandson, Ayden J. Keller, lives with his father in Germany.
