Obituary of Evalyn B. Smith

Evalyn B. Smith, age 97, formerly of Mainesburg, PA, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Broad Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wellsboro, PA. Evalyn was born July 14, 1913 in Sullivan Township, a daughter of George and Ella (Gardner) Bardwell. She was the wife of Lisle Thomas Smith who died in 2003. Evalyn was employed as an office manager at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital before her retirement. She was an accomplished piano player, a member of the former Canoe Camp Church of Christ, Disciples and the Elizabeth Rebekah Lodge #291 since 1947. Evalyn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Barbara Smith of Williamsport, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Maxine and Randall Mills of Wellsboro, PA; nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lisle, and a sister, Ruth Shaylor. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to Noon at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will follow at Noon at the funeral home with the Pastor Chris Shafer officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery, Sullivan Twp.
