Obituary of Madeline A. Vogel
Madeline A. Vogel, age 102, of Wellsboro, PA, died Friday, October 16, 2009 at Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center, Wellsboro, PA. Madeline was born September 14, 1907 in Windber, PA, a daughter of John Joseph and Mary Jane (Clapper) McCune. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Vogel who passed away in 1975. Madeline and Dick owned several businesses during their lifetime, among them a tavern in Du Bois, PA and the Ansonia Hotel in the early 1950s and 1960s. They retired in 1969. Madeline enjoyed serenading friends and staff at Broad Acres. Her favorite song was Take Me Out to the Ballgame. She was an outdoors woman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Madeline is survived by two grandsons, James (Michelle) Vogel of Cedar Run, PA and John Vogel of Johnstown, PA; two great grandchildren, Jim and Jessica Vogel; five great grandchildren, Faith, Andrew, Leah, Joshua and Caleb; a daughter-in-law, Mary M. Vogel of Johnstown, PA. She was predeceased by five brothers and sisters and a son, John Richard Vogel, in January 1997.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A life celebration will be held immediately following the viewing at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
