Obituary of Marian S. Ames
Marian Smith Ames, cherished wife of Leonard N. Ames (deceased), of Covington, PA, went to meet her Lord and Savior on June 7, 2009, at The Green Home, Wellsboro, PA, in the presence of her son-in -law and daughter, Don and Eileen Knobl of Greenville, SC. Other survivors are her brother and wife, Chester and Louise Smith, of Covington, PA, three grandsons, Michael and Donald Jr. (Chip) of Greenville, SC and Daniel of Tampa, FL, a foster daughter, Dawn Mitchell, of Wellsboro, PA, two close cousins, Ruth Tuttle and Joyce Garrison, and several nieces and nephews.
Marian grew up and resided in Covington and, since 1980, she wintered in Belleview, FL. Marian and Leonard owned and managed Lens Camper Sales in Covington, were charter members of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Tioga Co., and members of The Gideons. Marian served many years at Bakerburg Community Church in Mainesburg, PA as a Sunday School Teacher and in several capacities as a deacons wife and teen ministries, and taught VBS at local churches. She also attended Silver Springs Baptist Church in Ocala, FL, and Covington Baptist Church in Covington,PA, and was supportive of various missionaries. Marian was a township auditor, a seamstress, an antique collector, a gardener, a traveler, and a conscientious homemaker, wife, and mother.
A memorial service will be held at Bakerburg Community Church at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 19, 2009. Visitation with the family will start at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bakerburg Community Church, 197 Gray Valley Rd. Mainesburg, PA 16932 or to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Tioga Co., 16 Charleston St., Wellsboro, PA, 16901. The Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S.
