Obituary of Hila Walcheski
Hila D. Walcheski, age 93, of Troy, PA, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Towanda Skilled Nursing Facility, Towanda, PA. Hila was born September 19, 1915 in Athens, PA, a daughter of Fred and Hattie (Perry) DePew. She was the wife of the late Leigh Sickler, and John Walcheski. Hila worked for the former Preston and Jaquish in Troy, PA. She was a religious woman who read her Bible daily. She was a member of the Austinville Union Church and a former member of the Rebekahs. Hila loved her family, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, freezing and gardening.
Hila is survived by a daughter, Elsie Collins of Troy, PA; a daughter-in-law, Teddi Sickler of Troy, PA, a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Connie Dewey of Omaha, NE; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Shelley Walcheski of Troy, PA, eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. She was predeceased by a son, John Sickler, in 2008, eight brothers and sisters, and two grandsons.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held following the viewing at 8:00 P.M. on Thursday with the Rev. Kenneth Marple officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA.
