Obituary of Emmett I. Stephens
Emmett Ira Stephens, loved by his family, respected by his friends, a life-long resident of the Millerton, PA area passed away at age 82 on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Broad Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Wellsboro, PA.
He was employed by Hardinge Brothers for 35 years. He was a charter member of the Millerton Fire Department, past president of the Williamson High School Board of Education, and a member of the Millerton Methodist Church.
He enjoyed his home and friends in Apache Junction, AZ, fishing, hunting, golf, bowling, shuffle board, his John Deere and most of all, his family.
Emmett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia (Smith) Stephens; his children, Ronald and Joyce Stephens of Tioga, PA, Rita and Derwood Say of Cuba, NY; grandchildren, Kristi Beggs, Aaron Stephens, Lindsay Stephens; four great grandchildren, Gabriella Stephens, Gracie Stephens, Joelanna Stephens, Kylie Beggs, a brother; Claire Stephens, Elmira, NY, three sisters; Shirley and Joe Painter of Alabama, Arlene Stephens of Rochester, NY, Donna and Tony White of Rochester, NY, He was predeceased by his parents Ira and Mildred (Roe) Stephens; his sister, Lillian Clague; and his dearly loved grandson Joel Stephens.
Family and friends will be received at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA on Saturday, February 28th, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately following the calling hours on Saturday at 3 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas Hodge officiating.
