Obituary of Melvin W. Heater

Melvin W. Heater, age 82, of Covington, PA, passed away at his home Monday, February 16, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Melvin was the husband of the late Mary Heater who died June 20, 2008. He was born September 28, 1926 in Mansfield, PA a son of Charles and Anna (Seeley) Heater. Melvin was a self-employed dairy farmer and owner of Heaters Trailer Park. He also had been employed at the A & P Plant in Big Flats, NY. Melvin enjoyed watching Westerns, including John Wayne movies. Melvin is survived by children and their spouses, Darlene Gray of Athens, PA, Dawn McCartney of Athens, PA, Daniel (Darla) Earl of Sayre, PA, Bonnie (Allen Howe) Reynolds of Owego, NY, Georgia (Danny) Hawken of Elmira, NY, Susan (Bert) Godoy of Vestal, NY, Cindy (Dennis Riddell) Roupp of Randolph, NY, Penny (James) Rockett of Waverly, NY, Lugene (Donald) Chamberlain of Mansfield, PA; Charles and Zineb Heater of Florida, Roger Heater of Tioga, PA; Connie and Dan Cobb of Millerton, PA; sister, Gladys Wood of Mansfield, PA; sister-in-law, Eleanor Heater of Buffalo, NY; a special nephew and friend, Gordon and Sheila Wood; several nieces and nephews; numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; a step son, Charles Earl in 2007, stepdaughter, Kathleen Earl in 1952, step son, Gary Skip Earl in 1996, step grandson, Charles Earl in 1997, his parents, Charles and Anna Heater; and brothers, Charles Heater, Milford Heater and Judson Heater. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 20, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Dr. Morgan Woodworth officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Holiday, PA.
