Obituary of Martha Zoe Curtiss

Martha Zoe Curtiss, age 93, of Wellsboro, PA, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. Martha was born February 1, 1916 in VanWert, Ohio, a daughter of Alanzo and Lois (Swick) Gilliland. She was the wife of Leon Curtiss with whom she celebrated a 62nd anniversary on June 1st. Martha was a teacher and librarian at the Mt. Vernon Academy in Mt. Vernon, OH. She also worked as a librarian. Martha was a Staff Sgt. with the Army WACC during WWII. She enjoyed sewing and made her childrens clothing while they were growing up. Martha is survived by her husband, Leon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Sue Curtiss of Bethlehem, PA, Vicki Ann and Michael Bernard of Wellsboro, PA; five grandchildren. She was predeceased by five brothers and sisters. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at the Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church, Rte. 6, Wellsboro, PA with her son-in-law, Pastor Michael Bernard officiating.
