Obituary of Leonard E. Swavely

Leonard E. Swavely, age 83, of Mainesburg, PA, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 on Rt. 6 in Tioga County. Born on October 19, 1926 in Wernersville, PA, he was the son of William E. and Mary Esther (Heist) Swavely. Leonard was the loving husband of Mary Ellen (Hafer) Swavely with whom he would have celebrated 49 years of marriage on March 18, 2010. Prior to his retirement in 1986, Leonard was employed as a machinist with Birdsboro Steel Co. in Reading, PA. He was a US Army veteran. Leonard enjoyed model trains and auto racing. In addition to his wife, Mary Ellen, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rick C. and Felicia Swavely of Narvon, PA, Jay Swavely of Mainesburg, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Pauline Swavely of Wernersville, PA; a sister, Betty Jane Snyder of Birdsboro, PA. He will be sadly missed by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In keeping with Leonards wishes there will be no services. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood, PA.
