Obituary of Marshall Eugene Evans
Type Obit Here Marshall Eugene Evans, age 77, of Tioga, PA, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. Marshall was born August 21, 1932 in Galeton, PA, a son of Stanley and Helen Evans. He was the husband of Viola (Hoffman) Evans. Marshall retired from Corning, Inc. in 1992. He was a 1998 Garden Contest winner and won the 1984 International Chili Society Contest. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and a die-hard Penn State fan. Marshall enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Viola; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim (Tammie) Evans of Lawrenceville, PA, Keith (Kay) Evans of Columbia Cross Roads, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Ken) Pilgrim of Okeechobee, FL; a step son, John Young of FL; two step-daughters, Karen (Tom) Ford of Rock Stream, NY, Suzanne (Michael) Savino of Lafayette, LA; numerous grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Francis Murphy of Tioga, PA; sisters, Florence Evans of Chicago, IL, Julie (Jeff) Diermeier of Chicago, IL; special friends, Kevin and Pam Costley of Tioga, PA. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Evans in 1995.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA.
