Obituary of Duane R. Smith
Duane R. Smith, age 85, of New York, NY, died on Sunday, October 25, 2009 in St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital, NY. Duane was born on May 4, 1924 in Corry, PA, the son of Harry L. and Mary (Jaquish) Smith.
Prior to his retirement, Duane was employed as a registered nurse with St. Vincent s Hospital in New York. He was a member of St. Clements Episcopal Church in New York, NY. Duane served in the US Army during World War II, receiving numerous medals and awards. He enjoyed the Martha Graham Dance Theatre where he frequently performed, Broadway shows and old black and white movies.
Duane is survived by the following cousins: Dorothy J. Michaels of Blossburg, PA, Richard (Joanne) Marvin of Covington, PA, Russell Marvin of Covington, PA, Sara Marvin (Michael) Lord of Selinsgrove, PA and Jan Marvin of Covington, PA.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC 637 S. Main Street, Mansfield, PA. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Ira Hindman officiating. Burial will be made in the Gray Cemetery.
