Obituary of Rodney C. Wood

Rodney C. Wood, age 60, of Blossburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, surrounded by his family at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 24, 1964, in Troy, PA, a son of Nancy (Paull) Alexander. Rodney was a hardworking farmer, construction worker, and the #1 biggest fan of "The Pittsburgh Steelers of the AFC North, Champions of the World." He enjoyed wrestling in high school, tinkering on the farm, running, staying in shape, spending time with family and friends and supporting their children in youth activities. Rodney is survived by his son, Chase (Misty) Bartlett of Mansfield, PA; a daughter, Donelle (Kyle) Walton of Levittown, PA; three grandchildren, Carson Bartlett, and Dean and Kylie Walton; a sister, Wendy (Jon) Murray of King Ferry, SC; three brothers, Randy (Lynn) Wood of Anchorage, AK, Russell (Carmen) Wood of Arnot, PA, and Roger (Cathleen) Alexander of Liberty, PA; nieces and nephews, Tiffany, Randi, Cris, Chelsea, Zachary, Sarah, Shelby, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, Rick Wood; and stepfather, Lyle Alexander. Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 7:00-9:00 P.M. and Friday, August 30, 2024, from noon-1:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Visitors are encouraged to wear Steelers-themed or black and yellow attire. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Harry Colegrove officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Rodney's name to The Heyward House, 745 N. Negley Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
