Obituary of Verne A. Doud

Verne A. Doud, age 86, of Mansfield, PA, passed away at his home on Monday, August 19, 2024. He was born on July 26, 1938, in Mansfield, PA, a son of Walter and Norma (Corwin) Doud. Verne was the husband of Beatrice "Jean" (Frank) Doud with whom he enjoyed 67 years of matrimony. He worked as a mail carrier and enjoyed woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verne was a member at Bakerburg Community Church for 17 years where he served as a deacon for 7 years. He served as a Richmond township supervisor for many years, treasurer of the former Lamb's Creek Bible Church for 32 years, and was a lifetime member of the NRA. Verne is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Walter A. (Lisa) Doud of Wellsboro, PA, and Lynn F. (Rebecca) Doud of Mansfield, PA; daughter, Melodie R. Doud; grandchildren, Justin (Amber) Doud, Barton Doud, Bret Wood, and Allison (Chance) Rodriguez; great grandchildren Kyler, Calvert, Pyper, and Justin; and sisters-in-law Ruth Doud of Muskegon, MI, and Marilyn Doud of Mansfield, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Stephen and Nancy Doud, Bruce and Shirley Doud, Delbert Doud, and Brian Doud. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, August 24th at Bakerburg Community Church, 197 Gray Valley Road, Mainesburg, PA. from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will immediately follow the viewing at 11:00 AM with Pastor Paul Binkley officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA.
